Apostle Paul's Prayers

This piece shares various prayer topics one can identify when the letters of Apostle Paul are read. I break it down into sections to help us get some context and understanding about the prayers.

NUMBER ONE
EPHESIANS 3:14-21
The Prayer:
“God should strengthen us with might by His Spirit in our inner man”
The Results:
Christ will dwell in our hearts by Faith.
He will then cause us to be rooted and grounded in LOVE.
We will then know the dimensions of His Love as those who have gone ahead in Faith do know i.e His Love that surpasses KNOWLEDGE.
In the full realization of this prayer, we will be FILLED with ALL THE FULLNESS of God

NUMBER TWO

EPHESIANS 1:16-23
The Prayer:
“God should give us the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the Knowledge of Christ”
The Results:
The eyes of our understanding will be enlightened.
We will get to know the hope of Christ’s calling.
To know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the Saints.
To know the exceeding greatness of His Power given to Believers.
This power as we get to know is according to the Mighty Power used in Christ’s resurrection and setting of Christ at the right hand of God (the place of Power) and Christ with this power is above Principality, Power, Might, Dominion and any Named thing (anything that bears a name or can be identified with a name) in the now and the world to come.

The Sweet Part and Conclusion of the Matter:
God put all things under Christ’s feet and has made Him be head over all things to the Church - His body and fullness. It then means that God went through all these processes of putting everything under Christ’s feet for the church to have that power.

NUMBER THREE

Colossians 1:3-12
INTRO:
Paul, upon knowing the Spiritual State of the Colossian church i.e Faith in Christ, Love for all the Saints and Hope laid up in Heaven for them offered the following prayers:
PRAYER:
To be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and Spiritual understanding.
RESULTS:

  • To please the Lord in our Christian walk.

  • To be fruitful in every good work

  • Increase in the Knowledge of God.

  • Being strengthened by Christ’s power in you to be seen in your PATIENCE, LONGSUFFERING and JOYFULNESS.

CONCLUSION:
We will become thankful to God who has qualified us to partake of the same inheritance with the Saints.

NUMBER FOUR
Philippians 1: 9-11
INTRO:
Paul after thanking the Saints in Philippi for their support during his imprisonment and their participation and contributions towards the advancement of the Good News also offered these prayers.
PRAYER:
He prayed that their love may abound more and more in real knowledge and practical insight.
RESULTS:

  • To have a perfect judgement in recognizing what is excellent

  • To be pure and blameless

  • That our lives will lead others away for sin

  • To be filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ

  • For God’s Glory to be recognized and revealed in us.

ICING ON THE CAKE:
He who has begun a good work in you will continue to perfect and complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

NUMBER FIVE
1 Thessalonians 3:6-13
INTRO:
Paul and Silas were away from the Thessalonian church which they had established and were worried that the persecution the believers were going through could drain them of their faith. Timothy was then sent to check how they were doing which he returned with a report of their Faith and Love he observed and how they longed to see Paul.
PRAYER:
Paul prayed that he could go back to them to supply what was lacking in their faith. We, therefore, pray to God to supply what is lacking in our Faith. That the Lord will make us increase and abound in Faith towards one another (believers) and towards all men.
RESULTS:

  • In the end, our hearts will be established as blameless in holiness before our Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His Saints.

NUMBER SIX
1 Thessalonians 5:23
PRAYER:
The God of Peace should sanctify you wholly.
RESULT:
Our spirit, soul and body will be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

NUMBER SEVEN
2 Thessalonians 1: 11 - 12
INTRO:
The Thessalonian church was one that was worshipping God under repressive circumstances and yet their Faith and Love was great, which Paul duly acknowledged.
PRAYER:
God would count us worthy of our calling into our Lord Jesus Christ and fulfil all the good pleasure of His Goodness and the work of Faith with Power.
RESULTS:

  • That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in us and we will also e glorified in Him according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

NUMBER EIGHT
1 Corinthians 1:3-8
INTRO:
Paul wrote to the Corinthians after he heard there were factions in the Church.
PRAYER:
Paul thanked God for His grace toward the people.
RESULTS:

  • Paul realized that by praying this particular prayer, the church of Corinth will get to know that Grace has made them sufficient in all Speech and Knowledge.

  • That they will not lack any Spiritual Gifts.

  • That they will be strong and free from any accusation, blameless and beyond reproach on the day of the return of Jesus Christ.

NUMBER NINE
Romans 15:5-6,13
INTRO:
This is for the body of Christ and can be prayed for the Local Church.
PRAYER:

  • May the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus.

  • The God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace in believing

RESULTS:

  • We will be with one mind and with one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • We will abound in Hope through the Power of the Holy Spirit.

These are the prayers I was able to identify when I went through Paul's letters. My hope is that we will bear the fruits as we commune with the Lord in prayer.
